Cardboard Citizens' new Forum Theatre show is now touring London's hostels and day centres. The Help wrestles with the complicated needs of three very different relationships to the care system: a domestic servant in the UK caring for other people's children in order to send money home to her family; a troubled young man whose mother can't cope with him anymore and is thus placed in care and a hostel worker paid to care, but does he?
A special showcase of The Help will be performed at Toynbee Studios, 28 Commercial Road,London E1 on November 19 2008

I am delighted and proud to be working with Cardboard Citizens as their ambassador. Over the last 16 years they have managed to pull off that very rare trick of producing artistically excellent work that challenges audiences at the same time as making a real difference to people's lives. No company in the UK better demonstrates the capacity of theatre to transform lives through personal empowerment and the rebuilding of shattered confidence. Cardboard Citizens' work with homeless people - and the ways in which their performances can open audiences eyes and provoke impassioned debate - is quite simply invaluable.
The role that Cardboard Citizens, as an organization, has played in the lives of some of its members has not only helped change their lives, but also restored their sense of self-confidence and pride.
